Barcode labels from Xero

Export your products and services from Xero as a CSV file, open it in BetaWave Inventory, and print. Xero's item code becomes the barcode; names and prices come across as they are.

Export your products from Xero

  1. In Xero, go to Sales and open Products and services. Filter the list first if you only want some items.
  2. Choose Export, then CSV. Xero downloads a file of your items.

If your Xero menus look different, search Xero Central for "export products and services".

Print the labels

  1. Open the label maker and choose Open CSV file, or paste the rows.
  2. Xero's columns are recognized: ItemCode becomes the SKU, ItemName the name, and SalesUnitPrice the price. PurchasesUnitPrice comes first in the file but is never used, so your cost can't end up on a price tag.
  3. Pick a template and label stock, check the preview, and print.

Item codes make good barcodes

Xero item codes are usually short letters-and-numbers codes such as HB-1420. That is exactly what Code 128 is for, and it is the default. Any scanner reads it back as the same item code, so scanning at a stock count or at the till finds the right item in Xero.

If you sell retail products with manufacturer UPCs, store the UPC in the item's description or code and switch the barcode type to UPC-A. BetaWave Inventory checks the check digit before printing.

Coming next

A direct Xero connection, where you pick a purchase order or invoice and print its lines, comes with the paid plans. Until then the CSV route takes about a minute.
